Remember that one time I disappeared for nearly two weeks without an explanation? Right, that just happened. I took a last minute vacation to Vancouver and right when I returned a press pass for Sled Island festival popped up. How could I deny that? With all these happenings I have had a difficult time keeping my life on track let alone my blog up to date.

This set of photographs was taken near the beginning of the month and I am shamefully posting them now, at the end of the month. I have, however, kept my Etsy store consistently stocked with new items. Does that count for something?

Expect travel photographs in the near-ish future.

Miss Cecily made a brief weekend appearance in Edmonton a week ago and we took the opportunity to go on a foxy outdoorsy nature walk in the river valley. Having googled Edmonton's river valley, I recently discovered some information that could prove to be engaging in a party setting:

- the river valley is referred to as 'The Ribbon of Green" (news to me!)
- it is 22 times larger than Central Park in New York
-  it is home to one of the largest gathering of American elm trees in the world (elsewhere, many have been wiped out from Dutch elm disease)

The weather may be volatile in my hometown, but there are countless other things we have to boast about and it all comes back full circle to the Ribbon of Green. What special gems does your city have bragging rights to?

having a party

DSC_0015
DSC_0032

Tuesday night was a party indeed, the gracious ladies from Bamboo Ballroom, Kyla & Stacey threw a wild shindig. All the lovely Edmontonian bloggers were out enjoying jewelry making with Rachel from Bang Bang Bijoux and make up retouching by Amber Prepchuk and Nicola Gavins.

I left the party with a diabetic dream gift bag from Coney Island Candy in hand, darting out into the humid rainstorm. The night was wrapped up with a screening of Godard's Sympathy For The Devil at the Garneau Theatre. It was... something, that's for sure.

Last night marked the soft opening of J. Crew in West Edmonton Mall, the 3rd store to be opened here in Canada. I was alongside both bloggers and friends in the media as we mingled around the eye popping hues of the current collection eating crab cakes and drinking thoughtful cocktails. Unfortunately the men of Edmonton will have to wait - the store is solely womenswear.

Stop by the store today as it's the official grand opening. Many thanks to general manager of J. Crew, Stacey and personal shopper Ken for making the evening so special - especially special with a gifted mint leather clutch. Dreamy.

wayback wednesday - 1967 chatelaine's

first

On a recent adventure to the recycling depot I came across a stack of Chatelaine's from 1967.  Despite resistance from the company I was with, these magazines followed me home to my delight.... and their annoyance. Seriously, how I could leave these gems to be recycled when they clearly needed to be read ONE MORE TIME?

Hope you enjoyed this discovery as much as I did.

P.S. this is a public service announcement to always recycle.
