right before josh took off running away from me.
wearing: scarf & striped tote - hudson's bay company. polka dot blouse and black jeans - club monaco. jean jacket - old punk clothes. rubber boots - hunter. houndstooth umbrella - target. And Josh, wearing his usual Burberry scarf, cheap monday jeans, army jacket, beatle boots.
Making the most of all the markets in our neighbourhood on the weekend. Columbia Road for flowers, Broadway Market for fish and snacks, and Bricklane for Japanese pancakes and other tasty treats. It is amazing to be able to walk such short distances and be able to pick up the freshest produce and flowers straight from the farmers.

I have also come to the conclusion that The Hudson's Bay Company should sponsor me already seeing as how I'm usually a walking billboard for them. An international ambassador if you will.

P.S. There is a wonderful interview with Miss Cecily on Gracefully Searching. She has been honing her distinct and classic style since we met each other in high school. Granted at the time we were always "glossifying" and talking about how the dress-code on the weekend will most definitely be "bling" - we certainly have come a long way! Maybe one day I will post some personal style shots from way-back-when.

when i'm with you

There are several reasons why this video is amazing. Firstly, the song rules... but that goes without saying. The blatant rip off of Ronald McDonald is pretty sweet too, I wonder how they weren't sued. But mostly, the inclusion of my absolute favourite burger joint (in-n-out) really puts the cherry on this jam.

Recent to-do list:
- get green card
- move to los angeles
- eat in-n-out burger endlessly

It truly was a beautiful day in our neighbourhood, blue skies, blooming flowers, all those wonderful things you certainly aren't used to in February if you're from Canada. So we jumped on the occasion to drink it all in. We even found a nice little square by Dalston where the houses look like they belong in a fairytale. It is so serene and filled with wildflowers it's hard to believe you're in London! I think it may even become my new hang out.

p.s. yesterday I was on the Joe Fresh Style tumblr... feeling nostalgic for summer and Canada all at once. Check it out here

valentine

Valentines Day has come early! Jash has anticipated my apathy for the holiday and surprised me with a Ladurée treat. (Be jealous, how many platonic life partners do such awesome things?)

Don't worry, there are still openings for songs inspired by me. Hopefully something similar to this:

big wave

Can't tell you how excited I was to see this. Hot jam. One of those bands that makes me wish music was my profession. The Replacements, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Exploding Hearts... etc etc etc. ANYWAY.... enjoy this aesthetic treat. Techni-colour dream.

portland

Unfortunately the last time I was in Portland I didn't have this lovely little blog so it went undocumented but rest assured I will be back in the Pacific Northwest sooner rather than later. Portlandia is only 3 episodes in to the series and I am already a mega fan. It will inevitably be a cult classic, I have no doubt with it's clever and witty satire about alternative lifestyles and the design community. It's the most exciting show that has come out in awhile (which was timely as I finished The Wire and was left feeling empty).

It also has a special place in my heart as Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan)
from Twin Peaks plays the Mayor of Portland in the series.

Watch online here.

Just make sure it's not like Seattle.

69 cheapside

A clear sky in london, what are the odds???? Jash and I went to the tower bridge and then walked along the thames to borough market for a cheese overload.  I love pretending to be a tourist on the odd occasion.

Josh and I walked quite a ways: from Shoreditch to London Bridge then finally to Soho for vegan sensation food. I've passed the Bung Hole on the bus several times and was finally able to get a shot of it when we were walking along. Why oh why would you ever call a pub bung hole? Amazed and confused.

Tried to take some "nice" portraits of Josh and I so when this is all over I can have.... memories or something. Rose tinted by then I would imagine. No matter how much I try to coach Josh on "capturing my essence" he likes to go all fashion photographer on me. I can't tell you how many angled, out of focus portraits I have of myself; I think they may be reaching the hundreds at this point. Another collection of photographs I have on the go is the inevitable 'trying to grab the camera away from snap happy Josh' photos. Those are mostly of me looking angry... and blurry. A lot of hand action as well.

I think these photos are definitely full of essence. The day was spent scouring the east end for tasty treats and beverages - how we spend most days off. We also had a major memory lane jam out to the now defunct Wednesday Night Heroes. Sigh

coincidentally this all took place on wednesday

let's spend the night together

Will I ever burn out on this? Probably not. I've been blowing through rock 'n' roll and old Hollywood biographies the past week and I won't be slowing down anytime soon.

This is the Q&A session after the premiere of Let's Spend the Night Together - Confessions of Rocks Greatest Groupies - a documentary based on the book of the same title by Miss Pamela. What was once a tangled web of rivalry over members of Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, etc is now a true bond. These ladies can come together and enjoy each others company now, talk about not holding grudges. Taking a lesson.

Miss Sandy

p.s. if anyone knows where I can watch the actual documentary online... please let me know! VH1 online does not permit anyone outside of the USA to watch it's content. BUMMER.
